What is a DIN and who needs it?

A Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique 8-digit identifying number allotted by the central government to any individual intending to be a director in an Indian company. Think of it as a permanent passport for your directorship journey; once you have it, you use the same DIN for every company you join.

How to apply?

For new companies, the DIN is automatically allotted through the SPICe+ form. For existing companies wanting to add a new director, Form DIR-3 is used. You will need your PAN card, Aadhaar card, and a passport-size photo to complete the application.
