The Power of the Udyam Certificate

If you are running a small startup or factory, an MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) registration—now called Udyam Registration—is your best friend. It is a free, paperless registration provided by the Ministry of MSME.

1. Cheaper Business Loans (PSL)

Banks are required to give priority to MSMEs. This means you can often get lower interest rates (often 1% to 1.5% lower) than a standard business loan.

2. Protection Against Payment Delays

This is the most powerful feature. By law, if a buyer does not pay an MSME within 45 days, they must pay heavy interest (three times the bank rate). This ensures you get paid on time.
